On April 30, 2020, Ubisoft released their gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the newest game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. While this trailer doesn’t really show any actual gameplay, it does give a look at the in-game graphics, and a couple of the abilities we’ll get to use in the game. As Valhalla gets closer to release, we’ve been getting more information about it. Here’s what we know so far.

Story

Valhalla’s story will immerse you in the Viking life

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla you play as Eivor, a Viking raider and fearless warrior. You will lead your clan from Norway to ninth century England and will conquer the land while building your settlement by any means necessary. Unlike previous games where your character is a blank slate as far as personality, Eivor will have a distinct personality already set as the game starts.

In Valhalla, you will be introduced to four kingdoms in England: Wessex, Northumbria, East Anglia, and Mercia. Also, while the game will mainly take place in England, you will be able to travel back to Norway.

Narrative Director Darby McDevitt stated that the overall narrative will build on the story that’s been going on through Origins and Odyssey, tying up various plot points that have been established in those games. While specifics haven’t been given, it’s been confirmed that Layla’s story will continue in the present day, and there will be some surprising and unexpected content for this section of the story.

Gameplay Details

You’ll be able to build your character to your liking

There will be a variety of ways to fight in Valhalla, with plenty of weapons and a skill tree you can customize to suit your playstyle. These will give you the options of fighting in close range combat, from a distance, or even go for stealth kills. There will also be raids and assaults, which will be large scale battles on battlefields and fortifications.

Valhalla’s creative director Ashraf Ismail has confirmed that they are going to be bringing back aspects of stealth gameplay from past games while giving them a new spin. Social Stealth, sneaking and stalking zones are examples of returning features.

Another large aspect of the game will be your settlement. As you progress through the game, you will bring various things back and grow this settlement. This can include people, resources, and other surprises that Ismail did not want to reveal. Your settlement will be the center of your quests and decisions that you make throughout the game. Lead Producer Julien Laferrière stated that you will see the effects and consequences of the choices and alliances you make play out within your settlement.

Mounts will be part of the game, and while it has been stated there will be mounts other than horses, there’s no word as to what those will be.

Release Date and Platforms

There are many versions of the game you can buy, including this Collector’s Edition

While there isn’t an exact date for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s release, it is currently set for a holiday 2020 release. As far as platforms, the game is confirmed to be releasing on PS4, Xbox One, Stradia, PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.

As we get closer to the end of the year release, expect to hear more information and news for Valhalla, including more demonstrations of the gameplay.

10. Walder and the FreysHad a taste of what the Freys been dishing out. Walder Frey was more of a pawn of the Lannisters, who really are the masterminds of the Red Wedding, but he still boasts of killing Rob and Catelyn Stark under his roof—which attracted the attention of newly trained assassin Arya Stark. Now Arya could have gone a simple route of just poisoning Walder and escaping, but she instead wanted to make it more personal. Instead of just killing him and being done with it she fed him his own children In a pie and slit open his throat—the same way her own mother was killed (minus the pies). She didn’t stop there. Disguising herself as Walder Frey, in one fell swoop, killed off every single (male) Frey with poisoned wine. Joffrey BaratheonGetting choked up at his own wedding. Continuing with the theme of poison, killer women, and pies, Joffrey Baratheon’s death was short but ever so satisfying to watch. After the bastard King irked us even further with his torment over everyone’s favorite Half-man, the audience received a small sign of hope when Joffrey started coughing. Then the series of coughs turned to chocking. Falling to the ground on his own wedding, eyes blood red, chucks of vomit and pie spewing from his mouth, and his skin turning purple. The viewer got a close-up of Joffrey painfully clinging onto his last moments, watching as the life leaves his eyes in a gruesome end. Though the downside to this is the fallout of his death; especially with him screwing over Tyrion by pointing at him as he dies (though he probably was pointing at the cup in his hand) and leaving him to be tried for murder. Bad for Tyrion but good for everyone to be rid of Joffrey. Joffrey's 9 douchiest momentsThe Purple Wedding
