How to prank your friends in Minecraft?

Well, you want to prank your friends, do you? We got some great ideas for you in this article. Just try to not go overboard too much, yeah?

Here we go. Read onwards to find out about some great ideas to prank your friends in Minecraft and have a grand old time while doing so.

10. Infinite Amount of Chickens

A really stealthy way to prank your friend/s is to install an egg dispenser in a secret location in their base. This is usually done by installing one inside a tree.

With a grown chicken sitting on top of a hopper, it will grant you an infinite amount of eggs and as it does, the dispenser will throw them out slowly. Because the dispenser is not working all the time, it might take a really long time for your friend to figure out why their base is filled with chickens.
How it Works:

  • Place a chicken on top of a hopper
  • Connect that hopper to a dispenser.
  • Connect the dispenser to a redstone clock or a detection device.
  • Have fun!

9. AFK Trap

Is your friend goes AFK a lot in your server? Maybe it’s time to troll them a little bit. There are a lot of different ways to troll your friend when they are AFK, but one of the best and most useful is to cover them with obsidian and then cover that obsidian with lava.

If your friend has a diamond pickaxe, they will be able to pick through the obsidian easily. However, when they come across the lava, they’ll realize they’ve made a huge mistake. Also, if they don’t have a diamond pickaxe, they will spend even longer mining out the obsidian. So, win-win.
How it Works:

  • Cover your AFK friend’s surroundings with obsidian.
  • Cover that obsidian with lava.
  • Wait your friend to come back to the computer with a grin on your face.

8. The Zombie Dispenser

Similar to the chicken trap, there is also a very easy way to make a zombie dispenser that will dispense zombies to your friend. This is really fun since your friend will be very confused by the amount of zombies around and can evet get killed by them. All you have to do is know how to make a simple mob farm from the spawner.

After finding a zombie spawner, create an empty space around the spawner that is dark to spawn a lot of zombies. Then, you need to send them to the coordinates by water and when they are below your friend’s base, create a water elevator to shoot them up.

Bonus points if you make the place where they emerge hidden, between trees and bushes, or something similar.
How it Works:

  • Create a zombie farm with a zombie spawner.
  • Lead the zombies by water and shoot them up with a water elevator.
  • Watch your friend’s confusion.

7. Unintended Results From Redstone

Does your friend really enjoy redstone? Do they have different button and levers and so on that all do different things to help your friend around the base? If the answer is yes, there is a very simple but also very effective prank to pull on your friend. The best part of this prank is creativity, since you can do anything you want.

So, change the outcome of the redstone. Make it so that when your friend clicks on the button that opens his base’s door, arrows start shooting out of the walls, TNT explodes, and so on. Depends on how much you want to grief their base; so, be careful with the TNT.
How it Works:

  • Find a button or lever that your friend uses a lot.
  • Change the redstone in the background to make it so that button or lever does a different thing.
  • Wait patiently for your friend to press it.

6. The Forever Carved Pumpkin

If you’ve seen our tutorials for different enchantment for armor, you might’ve realized that I was a bit confused about Curse Of Binding and its use. Well, this is one of its uses.

Is your friend AFK, or just not paying that close of an attention? Or do they have a pressure plate they walk on a lot? Well, how about installing a dispenser there with a carved pumpkin that has the Curse of Binding enchantment on it?

Your friend will automatically wear the pumpkin if they are not already wearing a helmet and they will not be able to take it off. Their vision will also be pretty bad.
How it Works:

  • Install a dispenser with a pressure plate, or anything with a redstone pulse.
  • Wait for your friend to press it and watch them instantly wear the carved pumpkin.
  • Enjoy as they slowly realize what has happened.

5. The Wither

The title is not explanatory enough, so let’s get down to the brass tacks. If you don’t care about blowing up a few bases, how about a fairly simply way to really scare your friends?

The trick is to spawn a Wither in a place where they really don’t want to fight a Wither. You can also help them with the killing of the Wither and the repairs after you see their reaction and laugh while they panic and run away from the Wither. It’s the nice thing to do, after all.
How it Works:

  • Spawn the Wither.
  • Have fun. Heh.
  • Not a lot more steps here, honestly. Fix the damages afterwards, I guess.

4. Trapping Nether Portals

This is also a way to pretty much ensure that whenever someone uses a Nether portal that they’ve thought was safe, they will probably die and lose all of their items; so, be careful.

First, choose if you want to trap the Nether or the overworld. You want to trap the side where they will go to, not go from, if you know what I mean. After, just pour some lava on that bad body, filling up every space around the portal.

When someone comes through the portal, while they still have a small chance to go back without moving, they will probably move a little bit and get caught up on the lava and with the surprise factor as well, will probably burn and die. Yeah.
How it Works:

  • Find the Nether portal for your trap.
  • Pour lava all over the portal.
  • Wait for the inevitable.

3. The Invisible Prankster

This is also an idea with no limit but your creativity.. The overall idea is that you can use the Invisibility potion and after taking off all your armor, you are basically impossible aside from the small particle effects.

In this state, you can do stuff to scare your friends, prank them, and so on. Honestly, sky is the limit here, do whatever you can come up with the prank your friends and have a lot of fun while doing so.
How it Works:

  • Brew an Invisibility potion.
  • Drink it.
  • Take off all your armor.
  • Prank your friends. Do whatever good prank you can come up with.

2. The Good Old Trapped Chest

You can always go back to the good old trapped chest prank if you are willing to make a redstone contraption that will punish your friends whenever they open a chest.

It does not have to be a trapped chest as well. There are so many ways to detect the opening of chest in the new versions of Minecraft now. You can make a lava ceiling and lava falls when they open the chest, maybe some TNT, or doors might open and let a lot of mobs out. The choice is yours in this one.
How it Works:

  • Craft a trapped chest or find a system that detects the opening of chests.
  • Build a system that does something whenever the chest is opened.
  • Hide away in a corner and wait for your friend to open the chest.

1. Underwater Base

This is also a very soft line between griefing and pranking. However, you can choose to take a lot, and I mean a lot, of water buckets with you and turn every single block in your friend’s base into water.

They will not be able to plug a single source and get rid of all the water. While pretty annoying, you can also add some fish and other fauna as well to annoy your friend even more. Definitely a cool way to prank, but it is somewhat irreversible and pretty difficult to pull off since it takes a lot of time and effort based on the base you want to grief.
How it Works:

  • Grab a LOT of buckets of water.
  • Fill every gap in your friend’s base with water.
  • Get some fish involved as well.
  • Have fun while they lose their mind.
