From Invincible Trees to Shopping Sprees on the Beach, These Are Things Every GTA Player Will Get

The GTA series has come a long way since it began. The city of Los Santos from GTA 5 feels like a living, breathing place with its own personality and culture.  With so much detail in the city, here’s our list of 11 things you’ll only understand if you’ve played GTA 5.

1) Always Run from the Police

The law works a little different in Los Santos. These maniacs with a badge are judge, jury, and executioner rolled into one. They don’t care if you blew up a jumbo jet or just bumped into their squad car, these guys play for keeps.

2) I Suddenly Love Shopping for Clothes

Put us in an Old Navy and we’re bored out of our minds. But we can’t wait for the next time we get to shop for virtual clothes that have no real life value. I can’t explain how this works, it just does.

3) You Don’t Mess with the Air Force Base

I’ll never forget the first time I thought it’d be fun to fly over the Air Force base with my dinky little stunt plane. These are the kinds of lessons we only have to learn once.

4) Run from the Red Dots on the Minimap

White circles on the map represent other players, but those circles grow a darker shade of red every time that user kills another player. When we see that dark red dot creeping towards us, we know it’s about to go down.

5) GTA Trees and Wolverine’s Claws Are Made from the Same Material

Want to smash a golf cart through a light pole? No problem. Want to run through a tree with a dump truck? Dream on.

6) Civilians Were Put Into This World for Your Amusement

We can’t stop punching civilians. We don’t hate them, we just love their hilarious reactions. A bonus is that this usually starts a comical series of events that end with us being hunted down by a flock of police helicopters.

7) The Tougher the Heist, the Closer the Bond

We start a heist as a group of strangers. We end with a brotherhood forged through battle. This bond is air-tight and rock solid… at least until the mission is complete and Jimmy backstabs everyone. Dammit, Jimmy.

8) It’s Worth the Hike to Get a Good View

Hiking up a mountain or climbing twenty stories of ladders up an unfinished skyscraper may take a lot of time, but the view is unbeatable. Just make sure to put a selfie up on Snapmatic before climbing back down.

9) A Relaxing Train Ride Never Stays Relaxing

We can never resist the urge to hitch a ride on the train when we hear it coming down the rail, and it always follows the same pattern. At first, we take in the sights and enjoy the ride. Then, we get a little bored and start shooting at traffic. Somehow it all ends in fire as we take on an entire army of police from the roof of the train.

10) The Tensest Part of Any Mission Is Between Finishing the Mission and Finding an ATM

Running through a military base to blow up fighter jets is a cakewalk compared to navigating through a city full of psychopathic online players when you have a huge wad of cash in your pocket.

11) The Best Moments Are Unplanned

This point sounds like an unplanned parenthood commercial, but it means something different for GTA. The best moments in GTA are all the unexpected things that can happen.

This list could go on for years, but these have been just 11 things that define our experience in GTA 5’s city of Los Santos. What do you think of the list? Can you think of any other points to add? Let us know in the comments!
