What Are The Best Bethesda Games of Today?

Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios are known for many memorable games that they have, respectively, published and developed for more than 20 years. Like most video game companies, some releases are great and some are disastrous. This list focuses on some of the best that they have developed over the years, including ones that they have recently released as well as one that they will release. Also, don’t expect any film-based video games.

10. Fallout: New Vegas

Fallout: New Vegas Walkthrough Longplay (No Commentary)

We are cheating a little bit here since Obsidian Entertainment developed this game. However, it was still published by Bethesda and used familiar elements from previous installments of the Fallout series such as the option of punching deathclaws to oblivion. What makes this particular title stand out from all of the other Fallout games is its flexibility. There are so many options in this game in regard to the build, mission decisions, and storyline choices. Finally, there are also memorable characters that you will meet along the way before you reach the great Battle of Hoover Dam.

Survive in a world at constant war: Fight against creatures and beings that were greatly affected by the atomic bombing!

Pick a side: Fight for the NCR, Caesar’s Legion, or neither. If you can’t pick a side yet, how about helping out the Followers while you’re at it?

9. Dishonored

Dishonored Gameplay Video

You are an honorable bodyguard who is just doing his job in protecting the Empress of the Isles until, one day, you were framed for murder. You are then aided by a friendly group of rebels and a magical wizard man to find the conspirators who have wronged you. Use your magical abilities and firearms to accomplish your task. The best part is that there is a high brutality potential that can be unleashed onto your enemies. There is just something so satisfying from seeing a foe get devoured by rats.

Best kind of revenge is great success—in killing: Play as Corvo to strike vengeance on those who conspired against you!

An assassin’s trusted arsenal: Play with many different tools to get the job done. You can even use magic!

8. The Evil Within

The Evil Within Walkthrough Longplay (No Commentary)

This is a police story like no other because it is not one that you would normally see in the news. You are a police detective who gets dropped into another realm and is forced to fight against fear-inducing creatures that inhabit it. In this game, you will stealthily creep around to find supplies and survive the horrific environment. There will be danger in every corner since the world you are in is riddled with traps and eldritch abomination. Be sure to get some brain bleach once you are done playing.

A detective versus a nightmare: Join Detective Sebastian and his colleagues in the fight against otherworldly creatures.

“What the actual f—“: Always wear your brown pants. These monsters are far from cute!

7. Skyrim

Skyrim Walkthrough Longplay (No Commentary)

This is probably one of the most iconic Elder Scrolls game of all time. The game led to an abundance of memes and culture that continue to echo throughout the web. In this game, you are the Dragonborn—a legendary being that has the latent ability to boom their voice by using the language of dragons. Speaking of which, that is another feature that makes this Elder Scrolls game stand out: you finally get to fight dragons. Of course, we cannot forget about your inclusion into the story, quests, and the various factions that each have their own motivations. Choose your own destiny and playstyle as you venture into Skyrim.

Build the next hero of Tamriel: You get to choose face (and the race) of the great Dragonborn!

Finally, dragons: You are destined to fight and slaughter dragons that threaten Skyrim!

6. Fallout 3

Fallout 3 Walkthrough Gameplay

In Fallout 3, you start from the very beginning of your life…Literally. You start out as a baby that will have the appearance based on your character customization. You will very quickly go through your life experience until adulthood, which is a moment when you end up leaving the basement—or “vault”—that you were trapped in your whole life. Once you are outside, you will be traveling in a broken world that has a mess of people and creatures that are forced to survive the radiation caused by a nuclear war. This game closely follows a very linear and plot-driven story. Oh, and your dad is voiced by Liam Neeson.

Eww, kill it: Clear out ghouls so that you can move on with the story.

Not all humans are friendly: You get to meet the dreaded Enclave again.

5. Fallout 4

In Fallout 3, you started out as a baby. Here, you will start out as a parent who later becomes cryogenically frozen to survive a nuclear bombing. Again, this game follows a very plot-driven story but will also allow for more room to fool around and make your own decisions in the decrepit wasteland. You will be able to finally build your own home and fly around in an advanced power suit, in addition to the usual scavenging of supplies, weapons, and bottle caps. Of course, there are also missions where you will meet unique characters and companions that can actually interact with one another.

Travel with a companion: Meet many friendly faces along the way. (Especially this one!)

A power suit done right: You can finally fly around with a jet pack!

4. Prey

Prey Walkthrough Gameplay

In this alternate reality, John F. Kennedy survives and helps the space program thrive to incredible heights. You may have the honor of being a spaceman, but you end up getting yourself involved in a problem where angry aliens broke out of their prison. It is understandable though since no one likes being probed, trapped, and studied. However, as for you, you will need to survive and fight against these furious critters. You will have to be diligent in finding weapons in the open world and developing your skill tree before you can competently fight against them. In addition, the fact that you need certain skills to solve certain puzzles makes this game pretty hardcore.

Nope, that is not a Marvel symbiote: You’ll be fighting against strange aliens that were supposed to be studied.

Be part of the space program: You get to live as an astronaut in an alternate universe!

3. Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein: The New Order Gameplay Walkthrough

We are glad that we are not living in a world where the Nazis won in the Second World War—a world that this game is set in; that would simply be disastrous. However, this game is not completely dark and poignant since it has a very tongue-in-cheek approach to its story. Aside from participating in the characters’ hilarious dialogue, you are expected to fight against the Nazi empire while satisfying your hunger for a wild, gun-blazing experience. Take note: not all Nazis are going to be easy to kill since they also have vicious dogs, robots, and robot dogs. Yeah, good luck!

Nazis are bad: Live in a what-if world where Nazis are the rulers.

Familiar faces: Engage in dark, humorous dialogue!

2. Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal Full Gameplay Reveal

Doom Eternal is a game that is slated to be released some time on 2019. Doom is a legendary franchise that will be remembered by generations to come. Although it has not been released yet, we are confident that Doom Eternal will be the game that will stand out among the rest of the Doom releases. In this sequel of the Doom reboot, you will be the Doom Slayer who rips through the various threats from Hell. In order to retrieve health and ammo, you have to be as brutal and aggressive as possible. You can rampage through the levels with weapons like the Combat Shotgun, Chainsaw, Rocket Launcher, and many more.

Demonic ultraviolence: You can show your brutality in your fight against monstrous hordes in this Doom installment!

A familiar design: Find callbacks to previous Doom titles and see the stories behind them.

Of course, we cannot limit the best games by Bethesda to just these ones on this list because we know other honorable mentions like Morrowind, Oblivion, or Call of Cthulhu might belong here. Please let us know if there are any other games that deserve to be on this list and which ones should be replaced by them. Until next time!
