Fight Zombies Together With Friends In These Coop Zombie Games

Are your friends as crazy about zombies as you are? Why not annihilate them together, with cooperative games?

Unlike regular multiplayer games, coop style permits several players to team up to combat enemies.

No need to search hi and lo to weed through the bad ones - we’ve got you covered with our 10 Best Coop Zombie Games.

10. State of Decay 2

State of Decay 2 Gameplay

State of Decay 2 allows you and three of your buddies to rebuild community after a zombie apocalypse.

The open-world survival game lets each player work on their own strengths.

Together, be a force to be reckoned with and kick some zombie butt! Wanna share items you collected?

Just drop them, and your teammates will be able to take them from you.

Maintain your base camp, and scavenge for resources in containers (crates, fridges, etc.), but don’t make a ruckus, or the zombies will hear you.

Bullets really are the only cure.

Got him!

9. Left 4 Dead

Left 4 Dead Gameplay

An outbreak. The pathogen responsible turns the townsfolk into zombie-like psychos.

Only four of you are immune, and you’ll need to collaborate to fight the growing menace and find shelter.

Firearms, flashlights and first-aid kits are provided. Players can share medical supplies and help heal one another.

You’ll depend your team to keep your health bars up.

When playing in Campaign mode, a dead player will be able to revive themself, but will need to be reintegrated by one of their team members.

Five campaigns are available, and although there are four playable characters, the game may be played in single player mode with AI-powered teammates.

There are also a few infected beings with special powers - some of which are playable in Versus mode.

Take your pick: chicken or corn dogs?

That’s not a selfie stick.

8. Killing Floor

Killing Floor Gameplay

A biotech company conducts gene and cloning experiments. A wee mishap produces human mutations.

The mutants retaliate and in no time, there is a pandemic.

Play as one of the Special Forces appointed to fight the invasion.

Gameplay is seen through ‘heats’, where challenges and fights earn the players in-game money.

The currency can then be used to buy or upgrade weapons. If at least one of the four coop players survives a heat (or ‘wave’), the dead players will resurrect in the next round, albeit without weapons.

Work together, as certain features work better in coop than going at it alone!

Say goodbye.

If you’re that poor, Goodwill has cheap clothing. Just saying.

7. 7 Days to Die

7 Days to Die Gameplay

After nuclear fallout from World War III, players must collaborate to survive and find refuge.

Yes, sure zombie-like creatures will need to be kept at bay, but the main goal here is to just survive.

You will be vulnerable to not only zombies, but also to the elements and to starvation.

Every seven days, those zombies will attack as a massive horde unless you’ve taken measures to fortify and prepare.

Be careful which online teammates you choose, because not everyone will want to cooperate.

In other words, just because a player is human, doesn’t mean they’re not hostile.

Friend or Foe?

Friend or...? Screw it, you’re dead!

6. Contagion

Contagion Gameplay

A role-switching survival challenge battle-royale.

The zombies here have no special magical powers.

They’re just undead and ugly, so kill them or be killed.

With several game modes, collaborate and then maybe even compete against your teammates.

You see, if one of your mates gets killed, be prepared to fight them.

They’ll come back as part of the zombie brigade, and WILL attack you.

Friends no more, go! You’ll have other innocent (AI-generated) characters to rescue if your ‘friends’ betray you.

Bonus – the Hunted mode allows for an ultimate duel to the death against up to 15 other players.

Other players become your targets, while zombies become incidental.

Aww, is it someone’s birthday?

Who invited THIS guy?

5. No More Room in Hell

No More Room in Hell Gameplay

Inspired by the Living Dead movies by George Romero. Some characters are based on (other) film characters (do you want to fight an American Psycho or a Big Lebowski?). Follow maps in Objective mode, and survive increasingly difficult levels in Survival mode. The screen darkens as players’ health decreases. Similar to #9 (Left 4 Dead), deceased players can reanimate after a certain amount of time. Melee weapons are abundant, but there are also some precarious firearms (reloading may pose challenges, so best to use these sparingly). Accommodates up to 8 players in coop mode, so invite all your friends to get rid of these Walkers!

Clear instructions.

Doofus just had to open Pandora’s box.

4. Miscreated

Miscreated Gameplay

The Earth is slowly regenerating itself after nuclear fallout.

Don’t underestimate all that lush green nature – spoils are still apparent, and you’ll need to pillage to find protection, weapons, and sustenance.

Build a base, find animals for nutrition, but beware of the effects from radiation. Mutants walk freely, and all you can do is plainly, survive.

But these are not your only enemy. Watch for human attackers, as the game accommodates up to 50 players (per online server), and not everyone wants to be your friend. Hmph!

How do I jump this gap?

Seems like an ordinary little neighborhood.

3. Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid Gameplay

A game where you don’t win by eliminating zombies.

The point here is how you die and how long you’ll stay alive. But go ahead and kill those buggers while you’re at it – you’ll have the means to do so.

Delay your inevitable fate for as long as possible, by looting, hiding, and keeping yourself healthy.

This includes the effects not only of hunger, but also of mental health and post-apocalypse boredom. No army, no doctors, or magical fairies are coming to help you.

You’ll need to pull bullets from your own body (your coop players are just there for cosmetic value, and to help slay enemies).

So just do your best in Survival mode. Or if you’re up for it, let the hordes into your Sandbox, and see how many you can take before they take you.

Good luck and Godspeed!

Holy! That’s a horde and a half!

Who let these zeds into my Sandbox?

2. Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6 Gameplay

A new terror is upon our old hero Chris Redfield and his cohorts.

The C-Virus has gone global, infecting multiple parts of the planet. Play as either the humans or the infected (which include zombies).

Play as single, coop or with a special mode called Crossover. In the latter, your regular coop partner may be swapped with someone else’s wherever the narrative deems it more efficient.

With three overlapping campaigns and interconnected story arcs, the gameplay possibilities are endless.

You’re cornered.

Art, shmart. I’ll shoot it if I have to.

1. DayZ

DayZ Gameplay

With just the clothes on your back, a rag, and a road flare, you arrive in a zombie-infested world.

Stay alive. Find shelter, food, vehicles and other resources.

If you’re a fasionista, and sick of those clothes you’ve been wearing since day one, have a little fun by scavenging for new threads.

Look in barns and other abandoned spaces for melee weapons.

Once armed, fight or avoid the zeds, but also other players if you so chose. Or why not be friendly with those players?

In-game voice and text chat help you communicate.

There’s even a cute hello/surrender feature, where players can make hand gestures at each other.

These fellows might help you survive.

My clothes smell. Maybe there are new threads in that car.

Did you just give us the finger?
