Bernard
J.L. Bernard is a 31-year old Virginia native who has spent a lifetime playing and enjoying video games. He is an accomplished self-published fiction author with three short stories posted in anthologies on Amazon.com. He enjoys writing dystopian fiction but is currently writing a paranormal Young Adult novel set in a present-day small town, much like his hometown.

Though video games and the industry are his passion, he also pursued a Bachelors's degree in Environmental Science and worked as a Wastewater Operator for over five years. His desire to expand his knowledge in other areas and his professional demeanor allowed him to achieve a supervisory role in a short time.

Although, his desire to be creative and free his inner geek urged him to pursue other opportunities in the industry that he's loved for so long. Gaming is all part of his daily routine, and only his mini-clone, Hudson, or wife Erin can pull him away. As an adult, J.L. pursues the thrill of beating a "Nintendo hard" game, as he writes fiction, publishes articles, and still wipes noob squads in the lobby one-handed.

J.L. has at least 25+ years of gaming experience and is very selective about the games he plays. He's a huge fan of Role-Playing Games and a sucker for character-driven stories. Games that focus on choice and evolve based on the player's decisions resonate with him, and if similar games followed the mold of Mass Effect, then he would have no complaints. Titles with massive, open worlds and non-linear storylines are his games of choice. He also loves playing Battle royale games and competing with a like-minded team in pursuit of victory.

Using his 10+ years of writing experience, J.L, crafts articles with precision and purpose, not a word is underutilized. As a writer, J.L. prefers game reviews and articles that ask the reader to consider a broader scope when thinking about the video game industry. While video games are a way to blow off steam and pass the time, they are a creative outlet where storytellers can share their world's vision. Absolutely nothing is off-limits, no stone left undisturbed, as game developers ensure that we as a consumer realize the potential games have. Video games are more than just colorful expressions of light, sound, and technology. They should be treated as such, and it's the hope of this writer to convince others of that as well.

J.L.'s goal, if he had to choose one, is to assert his position and continuously craft articles that showcase his decades of experience as a gamer. He won't rest until his work reaches some semblance of perfect, and he will never stop writing about his passions.
