My name is Ayman.

I've been a gamer most of my life and I'm passionate about it. Video games are the most difficult entertainment medium, but they offer the most cohesive experience out of all of them. They educate, entertain, and drive culture in the most subtle and important ways. That's why I'm here-- to help guide you in terms of what's new and awesome in this medium, and what is probably a waste of your time.

A little about myself-- I'm an English graduate from the University of New Hampshire. I've been a creative writer since I was a teenager, and I'm pretty sure I learned how to use a joystick before I could even walk. I've been a slam poet, creative writer, artist, blog writer, and most recently, I won an award at my university before I graduated for teaching why Shakespeare is cool. I've written for companies in topics surrounding culture. As for my gaming credibility, I've been a competitive gamer in e-sports since I was twelve, on and off, most notably in Super Smash Brothers, Counter-Strike, League of Legends and Overwatch. While I could bore you with that stuff, I could tell you that I am more interested in the concept of being a digital creative writer-- specifically when it comes to video games. As someone who understands the subtleties of storytelling, I've learned how to apply that knowledge to video games in every aspect-- aesthetics, poetics, pacing, level design, AI, mechanics, and of course, the actual narrative. These are some things I understand very well.

My favorite genres change from time to time as the medium evolves. Lately, I've found that I prefer linear games. That being said, I'm still currently obsessed with Shadow of Mordor because it is one of the few open world games that I feel is done right. I'm a huge fan of RTS games, though I have found that this year has been lacking in terms of quality. Warcraft 3, the Total War series and Sid Meier's Civilization series are some of my absolute favorites. I also love indie games, but there are too many favorites to count these days. Some of my favorites from this year include Cuphead, Bleed 2 and Hue. Lastly, I love sandbox games because anything is possible when it comes to their communities. My favorite from this year is Ark: Survival Evolved, just because I've never found a game that so simultaneously tense, challenging and humorous.
