Finlay has been a gamer for 14 years to the present day, having been a part of the gaming-space since the DS-Lite days. Games continue to be a part of his everyday life, with his favourite genres being Fantasy Open-World Games. These are the kinds of games that Finlay predominantly owns, his favourites including Subnautica, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and Horizon Zero Dawn. Fantasy has always been his thing, from games and movies to books, and Finlay is well acquainted with the fantasy genre across all these mediums.

Finlay has graduated with a BA in Philosophy from the University of Lincoln, and is a Creative Writing MA student at The University of Nottingham.

Finlay has been writing since he was 7 years old. He is particularly inspired by open world video games such as The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim which help to inspire his poetry and prose fiction. He feels that games provide an ambience that no other medium can offer. Their music, environmental sounds and visuals are a great tool for inspiring written pieces from the deepest places within us. Currently, Finlay is writing an epic-fantasy novel inspired by many franchises, including The Elder Scrolls, Lord of the Rings, How to Train Your Dragon, A Song of Ice and Fire and more.
