10 Badass Celebrities who should be in Street Fighter

Who are the best fighters in Hollywood?

With Street Fighter V not far away from our machines (unless you’re an Xboxer, sorry guys), I thought I’d give a run down of 10 celebrities that should, but probably never will, be in Street Fighter. But do these 10 stars have what it takes to enter video games’ biggest arena?

10. Wesley Snipes

Snipes as Blade

It is well known that Wesley Snipes is a bit of a badass on and off screen. He is trained in a number of disciplines including Karate, Kung Fu, and Capoeira, so depending on his adversary, could mix up a bunch of styles and hold his own.

9. Sarah Michelle Gellar

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Yes that’s right, Buffy. If you can slay hordes of undead, surely you can go three rounds with the world’s hardest fighters. Her cv boasts a number of relevant skills including kickboxing, street fighting, boxing, gymnastics, and she has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Add all this to the fact that she’s a bit of a bombshell as well, and we have the perfect recipe for a street fighter character.

8. Peter Dinklage

Apparantly chicks dig scars

Ok, so this one is a bit of a curve ball, but lets consider the facts. As Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones, he’s a stone cold killer. He murdered both of his parents (ok his mother was an accident during child birth), and he has an uncanny ability of not dying. He is smart enough to talk himself out of most scrapes and although he usually stays alive by avoiding fighting (both of his trials by combat have never actually directly involved him), I think he’s small enough not to get too damaged. Imagine him fighting Sagat. Even his Ground Tiger Shots could be ducked by Dinklage. Not to be underestimated.

7. Angelina Jolie

As Lara Croft

Angelina’s appearances as Mrs Smith (Mr and Mrs Smith), and Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) have already been linked to the likeness of Crimson Viper in Street Fighter IV, but we all know she’s a badass in her own right too. The gorgeous, tattooed, cancer beating, award winning, mother-of-six would have no problem put up against the likes of Blanka, or M. Bison. And as Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR, you know she’ll be kicking ass for humanity as well.

6. Harrison Ford

Han Solo

It's Not My Fault on Disney Video

I’m not even too sure what I need to write about Harrison Ford. Ok, he’s getting on a bit, but that hardly matters at all. He’s Han Solo. He’s Indiana Jones. He was even quite a badass President of the USA. Off screen, he survives plane crashes, and saves stranded kids in his helicopter. Badass. Next.

5. Justin Bieber

Are you a belieber?

How great would it feel to go a few rounds with King Douche himself, Justin Bieber. He has often threatened to beat people up if he doesn’t get his own way; his neighbour when he drove his Ferrarri at 8.00 am one morning, a paparazzi who said some nasty words to him, even his own protection apparently, has been attacked by this vicious puppy. Well, go on then, Biebs. Jump in the ring and put your money where your mouth is.

4. Gordon Ramsay

In Hell’s Kitchen

A footballer turned chef, people queue up to be abused by this foul-mouthed kitchen perfectionist. He’s managed to make about 20 different shows that are all exactly the same, and no-one’s seemed to notice. Not sure how much of a fighter he is, but it doesn’t matter, as he’d just make all his opponents cry with his mean old insults.

3. Maisie Williams

Hmmm, who shall I kill next?

Anyone who has watched Game of Thrones has seen Maisie Williams grow from a surly young tomboy, into a cold, calculating assassin. She might be young, and still learning the ropes, but once she’s wiped off her ever-growing revenge list, street fighting will be like a fun sport for her.

2. Luis Suárez

Not biting or diving. Rare photo

Whether you love or hate Luis Suarez, he is a badass. On the pitch, he is one of the world’s greatest football players. Off the pitch (and also on), he’s a bit of a lunatic. He might not have much fighting prowess, but his athleticism and unpredictable nature make this diving, biting complaining, borderline racist a contender in any Street Fighter game.

1. Arnold Schwarzenegger

In The Last Stand

Arnie’s not the kind of guy you want to say ‘no’ to. That’s why he’s been a Hollywood mega-star (I don’t think his acting skills helped too much) and Governor of California. I mean, who would dare to turn him down? We’re just lucky he’s a good guy. If he ever decided to use his powers for malevolent evil, we’d be in big trouble. Congratulations Arnie. You’ve topped my list of total badass celebrities. The ultimate achievement.

Almost, but not quite…

Check the gallery for some people who didn’t quite hit the mark, for whatever reason. For example, no-one in the street fighter movie (see below) could be in the game. It would just be too confusing. Did I miss anyone out? Tell me in the comments below.

Sagat (サガット, Sagatto, based on Thai สกัด) is a boss character from the early editions of the Street Fighter series of fighting games. He was later turned into a regular, playable character. According to Street Fighter co-creator Hiroshi Matsumoto, Sagat's style was probably modeled after dramatic television kickboxing personalities. It is possible he was named after Sagat Petchyindee, a legendary Thai boxer.
