Whistleblower is the prequel to one of the most horrifying survival horror games, Outlast. The previous game ended on a cliffhanger and Whistleblower starts off with events that take place before Outlast and stretches past it to explain the final chapter.

Players assume the role of Waylon Park, a software engineer working at Mount Massive Asylum, who wishes to expose the brutal experiments being conducted in the asylum. Like in the first game, players cannot engage in combat and all they can do is keep away from the prisoners. The camcorder with night vision returns in this game as well.
