The player and his friend Drevin, are mercenaries in the employ of Valdis, a warlord allied with a race of Dark Wizard. However, when Valdis betrays the player and kills Drevin, the player is rescued by dryads, who task him with defeating Valdis. In the quest for both revenge and to save the world from the machinations of Valdis, the player must once again journey across the land of Aranna, meeting new allies and defeating strange new evils, all to stop Valdis from fulfilling his dark machinations.

Dungeon Siege II, with greatly advanced graphics and new, strategically deep gameplay, players are engaged in a story-driven adventure that explores the fantastical world of Aranna like never before.
