The Top 10 Games Like Friday the 13th

If you have enjoyed playing as Jason or a number of counselors in Friday the 13th: The Game, then you will be delighted to know there are other games out there that are similar. Sometimes it is difficult to find game similar to the ones we most love. That is why I have created a list of top 10 games like Friday the 13th (and uniquely better than Friday the 13th).

10. Deceit

Learn how to tell if your friend is innocent or infected.

Deceit is a game of trust and deception where “innocent” players have to figure out how to survive the “infected” players. Once players enter the map they will learn if they are infected or not. Players must develop a strategy and complete objectives  to figure out who the infected are, allowing them to take them out before the infected reach their true form.

Deceit is a survival game that almost makes you feel like a spy trying to gather intelligence about other players, or hide the truth if you are infected. Once the time comes for the infected to transform into their true form, the innocent are almost sure to die. This game is similar to Friday the 13th in the way that you have to survive. However, being a villain in this game is incredibly unique and different.

One of the "Innocent" walk down a hall in search of the infected.

The Library is a great place to gain information and stake out to see if another player is infected.

9. Hide or Die

Watch as some players decide to be taken by the darkness.

Hide or Die is another survival game that starts all players out together as a team. As in Friday the 13th, players will have objectives to complete in an attempt to escape. However, they must look out for the Darkness, which can consume players and turn them into psychopathic killers. Some players can even opt to be consumed by the darkness in order to stalk other players.

The objective is for players to clear sections by exposing the Darkness to light. This is done through a series of tasks that prove difficult when being attacked by old buddies. Choose to band together and escape the Darkness, or succumb to the “dark side” and take out your old friends.

Cell phone coverage can be very handy in a hide or die situation.

8. Dead by Daylight

One of the most played survival games to date, Dead by Daylight.

Dead by Daylight may be the one game on this list that is the most like Friday the 13th. You can select a number of serial killers to play as; some notable ones like Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger are available. While you may be chasing some helpless people around a map in an attempt to kill them, you won’t get the same kill animations as in Friday the 13th.

A not so lucky survivor was caught by the killer and left to bleed out.

7. Last Year

Stuck in a high school with a serial killer? Watch this video to learn how to survive.

Similar to Friday the 13th, Last Year brings five high school players together to attempt to survive one serial killer. Players must band together and put their teenage creativity to work in order to escape East Side High School where a raged maniac is loose. Expect to create weapons out of the unexpected in order to survive.

Or be the maniac killer who gets to hunt down the cliche punks of your high school nightmares. There are multiple killers to choose from with their own unique abilities, allowing players to choose one that most suits them.

Will you be able to survive, or will this be another classic horror massacre?

A group of high schoolers gather outside of their school, not knowing what horrors the night will bring.

The Slasher enters the high school, ready to stalk the unsuspecting high schoolers.

6. White Noise 2

Experience the supernatural terror in this video of White Noise 2

White Noise 2 sets players into the lives of either four investigators, or a creature from nightmares. The investigators must put together a series of clues before the creature kills them. The team work in White Noise 2 is similar to Friday the 13th in the way the investigators must work together to survive. Coming face to face with a terrifying creature in an asylum has never been scarier. If you don't stay close to your friends and put together the clues fast enough, I assure this will not end like an episode of Scooby Doo.

5. Identity V

Identity 5 Chinese Gameplay.

Have you ever wanted to the crap scared out of you while on the toilet? Well that is now possible with the Android mobile game, Identity V. If you are taking a break from Friday the 13th and decide to check out your phone for a while, why not play this Dead by Daylight look alike on your phone. Identity V allows players to choose to play as survivors or killer, set in a world that looks like it was designed by Tim Burton. The game play is almost identical to Dead by Daylight in gameplay by making players activate machines in order to escape this strange world. Identity V is a unique mobile alternative to games like Friday the 13th.

4. Depth

Watch players take on the role of killer shark in this Let's Play video.

All of the games on this list so far have had the typical teenagers, or the like, trying to escape some maniac killer. What if I told you that you could play a survival horror game, but the killer is totally justified in his/her actions. That is exactly the uniqueness this game offers. Depth allows players to put on their wetsuit and dive for treasure after treasure. However, they better be on the lookout for the other two players who get to play as man eating sharks. Being a killer never felt so right. After all, when it comes to being in the ocean, the shark should be at the top of the food chain. Depth adds an interesting twist by having more than one killer at a time. Divers can use their underwater weaponry to defend themselves and their treasure, but the shark proves to be a smooth killer.

A diver is diving a plane wreck in hopes of finding treasure. He also has his harpoone ready for any shark threats.

3. Crawl

A unique look at the gameplay of Crawl.

This is an interesting survivor game that looks like it came right out of the classic age of video games, but it didn't and it is great. Crawl brings four players into a map with one hero among them. This hero is the only one who is alive. The other three players control spirits that are trying to trade places with the hero. With elements from video games 8-bit era and todays survival games, Crawl is sure to be an entertaining time for you and your friends.

The hero fights off a couple of giants, defending his soul.

2. Left 4 Dead 2

Live gameplay of Left 4 Dead 2

Left 4 Dead 2 is a first-person shooter survival game. You and your friends must support each other as you fight through zombies in search of the next level. Have you ever played one of those games at the arcade where you just have to keep shooting to survive? Well, this is better than that, but you get the picture. Unlike Friday the 13th and most of the other games on this list, players are not able to play as the killer. So, this is no time to be selfish and leave your friends. You must stick together in order to survive the zombie apocalypse.

A player looks at the mound of zombie bodies as his own personal undead trophy case.

1. Hunt Showdown

Hunt Showdown live gameplay from Let's Play.

Hunt Showdown has successfully combined the likes of Friday the 13th, A Quiet Place, and the Hunger Games to create an amazing experience worth returning to. In Hunt Showdown you will become a monster hunting bounty hunter who has a lot to gain from a dead monster. However, you are not alone in this world of bounty hunters and can be killed at any moment by a rival who is out to collect on your hard work. You can hunt alone for big rewards or you can join forces for a better chance of survival. Whatever you may decide. Hunt Showdown will certainly keep you on your toes as you try to get out of the woods alive and rich.
