When it comes to playing as the centurion you will need to do your best to keep things fresh. It is no surprise that the Centurion is arguably the most popular For Honor hero. However, this does casula players no favors since players are getting no shortage of experience waging war against the mighty Roman hero.

The beginner tips will highlight some of the best abilities the Centurion has to offer while the advanced tips will cover ways to keep his fighting style fresh and deadly.

BEGINNER TIPS

Triple Slash Combo

The Centurion has a useful three hit combo which lands three quick light attacks in any direction you see fit. The attacks are swift and because of his speed you should be able to land the last two if you were able to successfully land the initial strike. You are also able to dodge light attacks as the Centurion, however, this attack is more telegraphed than the stationary light strikes and can be parried easily by enemies. However, used sparingly the side dodge light can be a useful opener.

Jump Lunge Stab

One of the best openers in the game arguably belongs to the Centurion as his forward lunge heavy attack strike does far more damage than other light lunge attacks. It can be initiated quickly, deals a fair bit of damage, provides a solid opener, and best of all can land you an easy execution. When prompted the Centurion will leap through the air, do so by dodging forward and then hit the heavy attack button for an overhead strike. This ability is also well used throughout the fight as well if you feel the need to reset your stance or get a hit in.

Hold Your Heavies

The Centurion has a great ability which allows him to hold his heavy attack for multiple beats. The attack goes from a normal heavy stab, to an unblockable stab, to a more damaging unblockable, and finally an unblockable that will stun your opponent after damage. Holding your heavies for different increments of time will help you succeed in landing your strikes, of course, you will want to get off as many fully held down heavies to truly dominate.

ADVANCED TIPS

Breaker Bad.

When it comes to playing the Centurion like a pro you will need to become a breaker god or goddess. This hero heavily relies on his many breakers which include normal grabs, a front kick, and nasty uppercut punches. The uppercut punches can follow heavy attacks and follow the same basic rules as the heavy. They can be held longer to increase the stun effects and a fully held down punch will knock the opponent off balance. If you initiate a heavy attack you can immediately followup with a windup breaker attack, hold the breaker long enough and you will knock your opponent to the ground and can use the opportunity to land a devastating heavy attack. If the opponent has fallen to the ground and the centurion initiates a heavy attack then you will leap through the air and plant your sword deep into the enemy. Get this done as many times as possible in your fights.

Parry Punish

The Centurion can enter into a long combination of dominance by simply parrying and punishing the enemy. Once the opponent is parried you must initiate a breaker to land a solid knee to the face, after this hit the breaker button again to grab them, finally tap the light attack three times to slam the butt of his sword into the opponent's face. Doing this will drastically diminish the opponents stamina and also get in a solid bit of damage. It is also difficult to avoid after the parry so make sure to do this every time you can!

Feint Heavy For Breakers

When it comes to landing heavy attacks, most opponents see them coming, especially if you are holding them for the full effect as discussed in the beginner tips. However, the Centurion is capable of feinting out of his heavy attacks and breaking the opponent instead. This will have him pull back his sword and grab the opponent instead. From this position you can do just about anything, butt them on the head with the sword hilt, land a quick heavy attack, initiate more breakers, whatever your little brutal Roman heart desires!

Use The Zone Attack!

For heroes whose Zone Attacks do not automatically lead into solid combos, the Zone Attacks are rarely used unless clearing out pikemen in Dominion/Breach Game Modes. However, the Centurion has a Zone Attack worth keeping in the holster. When initiated he will swing out in wide arcs with his sword to the right, left, and right. While you will usually get parried by the second or third swing there is some finess you can put on this move. You can opt out of any one of the swings if you see that your opponent will go for the parry or you can roll back out of it in the beginning (be wary of the stamina loss with this).

The Zone Attack is most useful when you know an opponent will begin a specific attack; for example: When the Shaman has bled you and plans to leap in for a snack, when the Warden begins to charge up his shoulder bash, when the Shinobi uses your head as a bounce spring and prepares to backflip kick you into next week. These three examples are just some of the few easy to read attacks other heroes telegraph. If you begin the Zone Attack right before they come in for those attacks you will catch them with the first strike and likely the second. This is one of the better ways to surprise an opponent as the Centurion.
