[Top 5] Destiny 2 Best Exotic Power Weapons That Are Powerful

In an age when Bungie has stuffed Destiny 2 full of exotics that feel like anything but, it’s in the Power weapon slot that you’ll find Exotics in the truest sense of the word. It’s Exotic Power weapons that define the game, weapons that are remembered by players years after they first are released.

They’re also incredibly useful too. Bungie doesn't play around when it comes to these weapons and almost all of them are extremely viable in their own unique ways. Whether you like PvP, raiding with friends, or are trying to solo the newest Dungeon, having an exotic power equipped is going to make any activity not just easy, but unbelievably fun too.

1. The Colony (PvP)

If bullying is something you love to do, The Colony might just be your type of weapon. An exotic grenade launcher that instead of shooting little things that go boom, it shoots out little things that track and annihilate your enemies. The tracking on the bots makes it incredibly hard for an opponent to escape its grasp. Once it has been caught up to, it delivers plenty of damage, enough to 1-shot guardians at least.

Over the years it has been nerfed a bit, but it is still increasingly viable in the Crucible. It is important to note that as a gun with Heavy ammo, it will be rare that you get to use this weapon in PvP. And while the tracking is insane once locked on, it isn't foolproof. If you’re not careful, an opposing guardian could quickly cover behind a wall, leading the bots to lose their line of sight. Usually when this occurs, the bot climbs up the nearest wall and stays stuck to the ceiling. To avoid this, make sure your bots have as clear a line of sight as you do, and you should be good.

The Colony can be found in pretty much any exotic engram, and occasionally Xur sells it.

2. Leviathans Breath

In Action:

If what you’re looking for is just straight up DPS to bosses, your best bet might just be this heavy bow. Not only does the bow come naturally equipped with Unstoppable abilities, but it also stuns any opponent that is unshielded. On top of that, if you draw it all the way back before firing, the bow also releases a concussive blast that knocks back enemies.

In game, especially in the current Season, the Unstoppable ability is excellent in the current Heist activities. Even in the current meta, Leviathan is easily in the top 10 running for best DPS. What is important to know is that This bow might not be best for Bosses simply because it only carries 10 arrows in total. For this reason, you may want to keep this bow for use against champions, where you can get more bang for your buck.

3. Thunderlord

In Action:

If you’re still reeling in from all the lightning out of Season 18, Thunderlord might just be your kind of heavy weapon. With its exotic perk, any final blow generates lightning strikes from above, lightning which can chain to a nearby opponent. The lightning strikes aren't small either, being more akin to grenades in total area hit. On top of that, its stats are incredibly strong and make killing more difficult opponents a breeze.

Your best bet with such a weapon is going to be PvE related content, such as Gambit. This is because the lightning chains have a higher chance of actually causing damage in such a gamemode where ads are likely to clump together. The slow fire rate of the weapon might seem a bit off putting, but it does carry a perk where the longer you hold down the trigger, the faster it shoots. Just keep an eye on the 62 mag so you’re not running out when you need it.

Thunderlord is a world drop and can be found in any exotic engram you find.

4. Anarchy

In Action:

While nowhere near the height it once had, Anarchy is still an amazing exotic grenade launcher, especially in raid scenarios. On top of also having chaining arc capabilities, Anarchy launches grenades which stick to their opponent, causing damage overtime. Coincidentally, it is the only arc weapon in the entire game to do this.

The sad truth is, Anarchy received an almost debilitating nerf a few seasons ago due to its power. Almost. Even so, it is an exceptionally strong weapon in practically every PvE endgame content. It’s also important to note that the damage nerf it received was aimed at bosses, meaning champions in Master Nightfalls can still be melted with the insane velocity of these weapons' grenades. Pair it with the Unstoppable mod in this season's artifact, and you have an unbelievably strong machine.

Causing Arc damage overtime, continuously chaining
Eliminating Champions and high (but not boss) level opponents
Being able to be used strategically with the stick ability

How To Get Anarchy

The other gripe with this weapon, Anarchy can be purchased at the Monument to Lost Lights, but it takes an absolutely absurd amount of Spoils of Conquest. If you want it, it’ll be a heavy grind.

5. Gjallarhorn

In Action:

A god amongst not just Heavy Exotics, but every weapon in the history of Destiny 2. Gjallarhorn shoots an incredibly strong rocket blast that releases a cluster of rounds, tracking the nearest enemy to explode upon. Truly a master of all, Gjallarhorn can be used to tear away at a boss's health, or clear an entire round in just 1 or 2 rounds.

A common way to use this weapon is to aim the initial rocket at the largest opponent in the arena, letting the smaller rounds target the other ads in the room. It’s for this reason that aiming carelessly at the ground is rather pointless. Also of note, this rocket carries a perk that shares the ability of tracking cluster rounds to other rockets nearby (only if they are not exotics though).

How To Get Gjallarhorn

To get Gjallarhorn, you do have to purchase the 30th anniversary pack. After that, simply talk to Shaw Han in the Cosmodrome and you’ll get your hands on it.
